About
Mission
The Avocado Jungle is an internet publication focusing on current events, arts, culture, and social and political commentary delivered in the form of thoughtful blogs, creative and diverse media content, original writing, music and art contributions from talented creators, and engaging user-driven discussions. We present all of this with the goal of pursuing the truth through understanding—understanding our surroundings, the issues, and each other.
Creed
At the Avocado Jungle we believe…
…in quality before quantity.
…in realism rather than sensationalism.
…in optimism instead of pessimism.
…in problem solving over complaining.
…in action rather than apathy.
…that actively listening, showing courtesy, and making an effort to understand improves us, our dialogue, and all those who take part in it.
…that the context of history and culture focuses and enhances our understanding of current events and of each other, and helps link this virtual forum to the real world.
…that we can and should rely on our own personal tastes, standards, and instincts as a filter to find great work by great artists that our audience will enjoy.
…that by sharing thoughts, opening minds, inspiring action and searching for the truth through understanding, we can have a positive influence on the world.
…that we should aim to be the first and best place to start your quest for quality thought, discussion, action and entertainment on the web.

This week in the Jungle we are searching for the truth about wealthy—what it means to be wealthy, how that differs around the world, and if and when wealthy people deserve to be treated differently than everyone else. Last week: poverty. Next week: big government.
