In school, friends are easy to come by. You see each other everyday and you are constantly updated on each others lives. In university, friendships become a little harder to maintain due to the workload, deadlines and difference in schedules. However, it is in university that you begin to realise who your true friends are and who will stick by you as you enter into the work world. On the first day of class, I noticed her red slippers fashioned with red ribbons. Perhaps, she couldn’t ignore my inquisitive eyes longing to make a connection with the only other brown person in the room. Alas, after many more awkward encounters, we became friends—the Pakistani American Muslim girl and the Indian American “culturally” Hindu girl. Our budding friendship found safe-haven in an undergrad American playground when perhaps elsewhere in the world, this wouldn’t be the case. Podcast available. I’m of the mind that one should never do something creative entirely alone. You should definitely have a trusted pack of buddies by your side while crafting some tunes. March 11, 2010, at 8:00 am — Blogs | Comics — Comics / Congo and Steve / friendship / humor / THEME: Friendship
